DNHTTPD stands for: Doug Neal's HTTP Daemon. It's goal is to be a lightweight web server with some cool unique features. It is still in development, but making rapid progress. Try it out, and I would appreciate any bug reports, comments, ideas, suggestions, and critisisms you may have :)
The server is all written in Perl, so you don't have to compile it. All you need is a working Perl installation on any Unix. Theoretically it should run first time (after configuration) without any modifications on any platform that has a proper implementation of the fork() system call. This does not include Windows - Perl's fork() emulation under Win32 is not at all reliable and the chances are the server won't work on Windows.
My name is Doug Neal. Here is a recent picture of me. I am 19 years old, a UK resident, and currently looking for a job, hopefully doing more of this sort of thing. I'm an active advocate and supporter of Linux and free software. I have a placement with Birmingham University for october 2002 to study computer science and software engineering. I am making an effort to gain experience in the industry before I graduate. I would like to move my career away from Windows NT and into Unix as far and as fast as possible. If you're in a position to hire me and think you could make good use of me then I would love to hear from you.
If you like the software then you can make a donation. Whether you do or not, and how much, is entirely up to you.
